GM BluePlan Engineering Ltd. (GMBP) has been appointed to undertake an assessment of the Airport Road Drain No. 3 (Drain) within the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake under Section 78 of the Drainage Act.
The Drain, which runs from south of Niagara District Airport to Lake Ontario, is experiencing damage due to high water levels in the lake. It appears that the backflow of water has led to undermining of the banks and loss of land to private landowners’ and Town properties adjacent to the drain at its downstream end. The structural condition of bridge crossings and culverts near the Drain outlet has also been affected by the bank instability.
Engagement Under normal circumstances, in accordance with Section 9(1) of the Drainage Act, affected property owners would be invited to an on-site meeting to convey any concerns or issues with any improvements that may follow from the Drain investigation.
Due to the current COVID-19 physical distance rules and limitations on the size of group gatherings, information regarding the project is on this page.
We request that you provide any comments via email or telephone to Marjorie Prentice at GMBP (Marjorie.Prentice@gmblueplan.ca or 905-536-4254). If required, a GMBP staff representative can arrange for a private meeting at your property, if there are on-site issues related to this matter.
