Access from The Cannery area to Lions Park in St. Davids

A sidewalk runs southwest from Cannery Park Drive towards the northeast corner of Lions Park. A steep hill separates the two. Presumably since the town built a sidewalk there, a plan must exist for a staircase up the hill to connect the neighborhood to the park.  What is the status of that plan? Would easier access to Lions Park affect decisions about what to put in Cannery Park? For example, given the large proportion of the park budget necessary for playground equipment, would it be necessary to duplicate the children's playground already available in Lions Park?

In any case we would appreciate this more direct access to Lions Park so that we can avoid walking on York Road, which has no sidewalks and very little "shoulder" for pedestrians walking from Concession 3 to Lions Park..

Hi verj50 Thank you for the questions. The sidewalk you mentioned was constructed as part of the subdivision agreement. Currently staff are working on the design of the pathway that will eventually connect the subdivision to the back of the St. Davids Lions Park. The question about the size of the playground hasn't been decided. The budget for the park is going through the Capital budget process currently with Council. Once the budget is approved we will have another public meeting to select the playground equipment that will be installed.
