Queen Street pilot closures
by JasonClements, over 3 years agoJust a suggestion for the surveys... perhaps add a comment field so that people can share ideas rather than just tick the available boxes on the survey.
In the second survey, question #6(?) asks what was the impact, but I'm not sure which option to select to indicate a positive impact vs a negative impact.
I think these tests are hard to say whether they are effective or not because there are other factors. People are just coming back from hard economic times and although they may want to come to NOTL for a getaway, and walk on Queen St... Continue reading

Promoting VOF Park
by Elizabethjarman, over 3 years agoThe Voices of Freedom Park is an amazing town-owned heritage park in NOTL. It is beautiful, historic, and engaging. Unfortunately, there is no promotion or signage leading visitors to it. Why doesn't the town and by extension the Chamber/Tourism NOTL promote it and the walking tour?

Engage with Social Media--Have some Fun!
by Elizabethjarman, about 4 years agoThe Town should be more actively involved with social media! Consider engaging more by sharing posts, commenting, and a promoting community organizations that you support financially like the Library, Museum and Shaw. By interacting more with these organizations online it shows that you support these wonderful groups and that the town has a "personality". This will go along way with improving the Towns reputation to residents. You can have fun with social media while also still remaining professional and informing the residents about important information!

Queen Street needs 2 or 3 zebra crossings
by Anne Dickson, about 4 years agoQueen Street needs 2 or 3 zebra crossings to restrict pedestrians from walking out infront of vehicles whenever they choose without so much as looking left or right. It should be made mandatory that you can only cross on the zebra crossing when lights are flashing as it is in many other parts of the world. On several occasions, I have had to break suddenly to avert killing somebody with my 1.5 ton truck being driven within the speed limit!

Short term Rentals
by Niagra27, over 4 years agoHello,
I find the bylaw restricting short term rentals here in Niagara on the Lake absurd and plainly discriminatory to those who have bought newer homes in the area. Apparently only licensed dwellings can adhere to these types of rentals such as B&Bs with licenses, hotels and motels, and fully detached homes more than 4 years old.
How is it that the Town is growing at an enormous pace with new development of semi detached homes, town homes, and some condos, but the town restricts short term rentals? The Town representatives should revisit this stagnant bylaw.
I understand the Town... Continue reading

Traffic circle at York Road and Niagara Parkway
by Newtcat, over 4 years agoWould love to see some traffic circles on each side of York Road.
The 4 way stop in st. Davids is crazy. And the stop on the parkway is trecherous.
I’ll even help with the shovelling to get it started. :)

St. Davids Pool
by Kathryn Servant, over 5 years agoI agree with Adriana that it would be really sad to lose the St. Davids pool. It's been wonderful for those of us who live in the area and also to those who have outdoor functions at the Lions Club. The Memorial Park pool isn't convenient to all people especially during the busy tourist season. We should continue offering an opportunity for everyone to get out and exercise in the pool instead of only offering a splash pad for a limited few.

Adriana
by Adriana V , over 5 years agoHello,
I am very concerned about the St David’s pool . A splash pad is not a good replacement for a community pool . I know the city wants feedback and with all the young families moving to the area this pool is only getting busier each summer . It would be heartbreaking to loose.

New health hub
by Carol Fraser, almost 6 years agoHi, Lauren!
Could we please have updates about the status of the new health centre on this "join the conversation" site? Since it affects every single person in every part of NOTL, and it would seem to be time sensitive, I'd love to have some details about what's happening in council, what the latest proposals are., etc. Thank you!
